About me

I graduated from Central School of Art in the late 70’s with a first class degree. I moved to Wales and set up my own workshop with the help of a New Craftsman Grant from the Crafts Council. I was making commissions and supplying galleries and shops such as Liberty, making beautiful pieces in the depths of Wales and taking them up to London to sell. Around this time I was commissioned by Lady Casson to make a piece to celebrate the Jubilee. I made a haircomb in carved rosewood with recycled ivory and gold, which was exhibited in the Victoria and Albert museum in the exhibition ‘Jubilee Jewellery’ and then again in ‘Celebration’ at Goldsmiths Hall Over the years I have made many commissions building up a loyal clientele and I often design pieces using customer’s own stones. |
As well as supplying galleries, I show my work at craft fairs and exhibitions. I am a member of the Designer Jewellers Group, and we hold a regular Christmas exhibition at the Barbican London. My latest work has been inspired by projects with large scale enamels, where I have been experimenting with various techniques and unusual colourations caused by the reaction of enamel with copper. I have used these techniques in my jewellery, inspiration comes from botanic gardens and deep sea algae studied at the Natural history Museum. The pieces are suitable for both men and women. I have been teaching Jewellery at Bristol School of Art since 1996 and have recently set up some new classes in jewellery and enamelling at Stoke Lodge Learning centre in Bristol |
